Eric Clapton is the only person admitted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three times, but he still criticizes it.
“I think of it as a frat boys club that happened to lure [me] in,” Clapton told The Real Music Observer.
The Yardbirds, Cream, and the guitarist were admitted in 1992, 1993, and 2000, respectively.
Despite the triple honor, Clapton believes he was misled into joining involved.
He explained his original attraction to the facility and why he changed his mind.
He said that the former Atlantic Records president and Hall of Fame chairman, Ahmet Ertegun, was the reason for him.
He was doing it for Ruth Brown and the Drifters. The snowballed. Ruth Brown and the Drifters, all those forgotten early Atlantic artists.
Clapton later called Rolling Stone creator Jann Wenner's Rock Hall launch “suspicious”.
